Changing and outdoor light but both wires are black?

I have never changed a light fixture before but my exterior light is broken and I bought a new light. I unscrewed the old light and there are just 2 black wires attached to the base. I’m not sure what to do, this isn’t what I was expecting at all. Is there a way I can still change the fixture and attach my new one?
I cant see any white paint at all. Im not sure about grounding it now either. There isn’t really anywhere for the copper wire on my new light to attach to.

At the fixture, it’s not so important which is neutral and which is the line. There’s only two ways to do it, and either is about as good as the other—as long as there isn’t confusion with a ground wire.
